My daughter’s birthday is coming up, and being a DIYer, my gift to her is a room refresh. She has a beautiful wallpaper in her room that I wanted to match a color for the other walls. This led me on a hunt for the best pinky mauve paint colors.

Mauve is really growing in popularity and I’m here for it! Mauve colors are a little 80s, but with things that come back in style, they come back bigger and better!
Just like most paint colors, we have many interpretations of the color mauve in paint: darker ones for the fall and lighter ones like I intended to find for my daughter’s room.
Here’s 9 of my favorites that I found when I was looking.
What is Color is Mauve?
Most people, me included, would classify mauve as a pink. It is not pink, but a pale purple that sits between violet and pink on the color wheel. Other times it can look very brown or almost lavender in tone. I think it really depends on the individual paint colors.
Any good mauve color will have various pink and purple undertones, but the color is made from white, red, and blue so it has lots of undertones depending on the lighting in the room, coordinating colors, etc.
What Colors Go with Mauve Colors?
The color mauve is a cool color that is on the neutral side of the purple family. With its soft muted tones, it looks good paired with colors that have the same attributes such as
- Soft Toned Pinks
- Medium Toned Grays
- Soft Muted Greens
- Blues with green undertones like Teal
- Bright Whites
- Lighter Purples
Best Mauve Paint Colors for 2022
Here are my favorite mauve paint colors, I think I picked 9:
- Wisp of Mauve BM
- Dusty Mauve Glidden
- Chaise Mauve SW
- Mauve Blush BM
- It’s Your Mauve KM
- Mauve It Behr
- Mauve Mist BM
- Sulking Room Pink FB
- Magical Mauve DE
Wisp Of Mauve-Benjamin Moore

Wisp of mauve is one of the light mauve paint colors in the bunch. It has soft hints of purple and gray with chocolate brown undertones. This mauve color isn’t very overwhelming, and because of the brown undertones reads very warm. It’s a beautiful dusty pink color.
It has an LRV of 61.74. This may be the winner for my daughter’s bedroom with the romantic vibes it gives and the warmth it brings to a room. It will help brighten any room its in because it is quite a light bright color and acts as a beautiful neutral color.
Coordinating Colors: Vintage Taupe, White Opulence, Silver Streak
Mauve Mist-Benjamin Moore

Is this not the most gorgeous smoky pink? Mauve Mist is one of the darker mauve colors we will look at. It has an LRV 35.93. This mauve color leans a little more in the pink family than purple.
Benjamin Moore recommends Mauve Mist to pair well with a Gray blue color and whites. Seeing the combination of the teal with this smoky, dusty delicious pink is a nod to old eighties color combinations. BUT I am here for it!
Coordinating Colors: White Opulence, Almond Bisque, Charcoal Slate
Magical Mauve-Dunn Edwards

Magical Mauve is another darker mauve color that is mostly on the pink side of the scale. With an LRV of 39.34, it is slightly darker than Mauve Mist. It has peony undertones in a soft muted hue.
Dunn Edwards pairs this mauve color with very neutral pinks and almost black plummy purples for a very classic look. These colors are so subtle that the mauve color will pop.
Add some gold accents, and you can have a very European look that is very popular right now.
Coordinating Colors: Crystal Clear, Black Russian
Sulking Room Pink-Farrow & Ball

Speaking of European, Sulking Room Pink is probably the dreamiest of these mauve paint colors for me. It’s a romantic muted rose hue with brown undertones.
An incredibly warm pinky purple shade, it takes inspiration from french boudoirs and “bouder” which means-to sulk.
Farrow & Ball suggests coordinating colors of light pinks, deep teals, and creamy whites.
Coordinating Colors: Skimming Stone, Peignoir, Vardo
Mauve Blush-Benjamin Moore

Mauve Blush comes in more purple than these pink toned mauves we have been studying above. A dusty medium toned purple, this mauve color is a stunner. It has brown undertones making it appear warm.
It has an LRV of 29.67, which technically makes the color dark. Looking at the picture, it appears darker than it is. I think mauve blush shows richness of the purple and pink warmed by the brown, giving the color drama.
Coordinating Colors: Calm, Portland Gray, White Dove, Silhouette
Mauve It-Behr

Oh I love a good pun, and I’ll be honest, it’s half the reason why I picked this mauve color. Mauve it (move it) by Behr is another close pick for my daughter’s room.
It is a little deeper, darker in pink than Wisp of Mauve, but they are very similar.
With an LRV of 52, it is on the brighter side and has more neutral hues. I am excited to find this color for a potential for my daughter’s room. Behr pairs it with creamy whites, deep purples, and muted green grays.
Coordinating Color: Frosted Jade, New House White, Plumville
Chaise Mauve-Sherwin Williams

Chaise Mauve by Sherwin Williams is a mauve color that leans more dusty pink. Another of the lighter mauve colors, it is another contender for my daughter’s room.
It has a little more pink hues than the Mauve It from Behr and is a little darker than Wisp of a Mauve BM. It may be the perfect compromise.
The color is such a soft, feminine pretty pink which is the vibe I am going for. Sherwin Williams has its complimenting shades as neutral beiges, peach shades, and off whites. It’s LRV is 47.
Coordinating Colors: Soft Apricot, Only Natural, Smart White
It’s Your Mauve-Kelly Moore Paints

Look it’s another punny paint color mauve: It’s Your Mauve (Move) by Kelly Moore Paints. I really like this pinky mauve choice. It is almost a bubble gum pink shade, but more soft and muted than actual bright bubble gum color.
Kelly Moore Paints suggested to pair with this are brighter and lighter pinks and deeper purples.
Coordinating Colors: Pink Petal, Mystic Mauve, Heart’s Content, Purple Heart
Dusty Mauve-Glidden

Last but not least, is Dusty Mauve by Glidden. I personally have never used Glidden paint, but I would be willing to try it for this gorgeous mauve color.
It’s such a brown based rose color with an LRV of 25.2 so it’s the darkest mauve color of the nine.
I would call it a warm color that leans more purple, plum, than pink, but only slightly. Dusty Mauve is a good marriage between pink and purple and would look great in any little girls room or be fun pop of color in a bathroom, too!
Final Thoughts
There are a lot of different “Mauve” paint colors out there on the market in 2022, but I hope you learned a lot from these 9 mauve colors.
With so many varying shades of purple and pink and different undertones, there should be a shade that will work for your house.
It really can be daunting, but what would help my choice is to get samples of my favorites and test them out in all the different lights of day and night to be sure of my mauve color choice.
Hope this helps!
